Industrial process efficiency

Learn a systematic approach to improving the energy efficiency of process cooling and heating systems. You will walk away with an understanding of energy-efficiency opportunities in the end uses, distribution, and primary conversion of energy for each system. Join internationally renowned and U.S. Department of Energy certified energy expert, Dr. Kelly Kissock, for a fast-paced and informative training on industrial process cooling and heating.

Participants will learn how to minimize steam-system losses through a variety of factors including better insulation, improved combustion, pressure, blow-down control, openings in conveyance and heat storage, minimizing air leakage and employing heat reclaim. Discover the importance of reducing heat gain into cold spaces and how to use heat exchangers to decrease end-use cooling loads in process cooling systems. You will understand how to employ counter-flow heat transfer to increase cooling temperature requirements and decrease energy use. The training will also cover how to model cooling tower performance and chiller-plant optimization.

As a result of this course, you will be able to:

  • Identify end-use, distribution and energy conversion components of process cooling and heating systems.
  • Describe energy efficiency opportunities in process cooling and heating systems.
  • Repeat principles of energy efficiency that applies to both process cooling and heating systems.
  • Explain the advantages of improving the performance of process cooling and heating systems.
